About Baka, Jerusalem
The Baka neighborhood of Jerusalem is nestled in between the old railroad tracks of the German Colony and Derech Hebron or the road to Chevron. Otherwise known in Hebrew as Geulim, the neighborhood used to be on he border between Jordanian held Jerusalem and Israel in 1948. Today it is known for its quaint cafes on Derech Beit Lechem or Bethlehem Road and its family oriented quiet streets. The park or gan off of Rehov Gidon is very popular every day of the week. There are no fewer than 10 synagogues of all different flavors ranging from Ashkenaz to Sephardic to Aidot Mizrach, from reform (Kol HaNeshama) to mainstream Shivyoni (egalitarian) and Orthodox. The school system is very good and there are nurseries galore due to the bustling family life. Rents and apartment sales are realtively high but considered very much worth it.Baka Real Estate
